Although his parents have occupations related to the entertainment field, Daniel Jacob Radcliffe actually had been kept from the show business since he was still at such a young age because his parents wanted him to lead a normal life. Despite this discouragement, he was eagerly involved in stage productions at his school and his parents soon relented. He won his first major role in 1999 in a British television production of "David Copperfield". In 2001, Radcliffe made his film debut in "The Tailor of Panama", which starred Pierce Brosnan, Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis. The year of 2000 was a huge turning point in Daniel's life as he auditioned for the role of Harry Potter. Previously suggested to join the competition by his father's friend, as soon as Dan walked into the room, director Chris Columbus knew we had found Harry. In addition, the writer of the phenomenal book series, J.K Rowling, also enthusiastically gave her approval. ![]() "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" premiered in 2001 to worldwide success. Radcliffe was an immediate star, and saw his stock rise after 2002's "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and 2004's "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" matched the success of the first film. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" was released in late 2005 and a fifth film, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", was a 2007 release. He has signed on for the sixth and seventh films; Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which began filming in September 2007 and was originally set for release on 21 November 2008 though delayed until 17 July 2009, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I and II, expected in 2010 and 2011. The films continue to produce high box office results worldwide. Radcliffe opened on 27 February 2007 in a revival of Peter Shaffer's play Equus as Alan Strang, a stable boy who has an obsession with horses. The role generated significant pre-opening media interest and advance sales topped two million pounds, as Radcliffe appeared nude in one scene in the play. Radcliffe's performance received positive reviews, as critics were impressed by the nuance and depth of his against-type role. Radcliffe's last performance in Equus took place on 9 June 2007. Beyond his acting career, Daniel has been noticed for his concern over the world matters. He is actively involved in doing charity to help autistic children develop a facial and vocal expression dealing with emotions. He also took part in raising funds for the Tsumani victims and contributed his autograph to support the establishment of Kamp Kiwanis, a facility for the disabled and underprivileged children. Despite his young age, Daniel undoubtedly possesses a big heart.
